Awakening is aptly named, alive with color and movement. Like the lifespan of a tree, Julia’s environment is cyclical, giving way to new growth. The circular framing replicates your eye through a keyhole—like a little kaleidoscope. As it turns, the seasons change, your mood shifts, and things start to look different. The black branches visible beneath the green and blue not only represent the past state of the garden, but the fertile ground needed to produce life.

What inspires the artist?
